ZHAW has broad expertise across several fields of study that are relevant for this project such as new sanitation systems, wetlands, renewable energy generation and zero-emission buildings.
Description
Drawing on the success of a previous project (LaundReCycle) addressing the treatment of greywater, The Blackwater Project aims at developing the existing greywater (wastewater coming from the use of showers, bathtubs, washbasins, washing machines, dishwashers and sinks) technology to treat blackwater (wastewater that comes from the toilet and contains feces), aiming for selfsufficient, decentralized, and modular water systems. By incorporating solar power, the concept strives for energy independence, supporting the sustainability and broader application of these integrated water solutions.
