The SPF Institute for Solar Technology in Rapperswil is an internationally renowned competence center for solar thermal energy. The institute has developed several solar thermal applications especially designed and particularly suitable for use in developing countries.

Description

The project aim is to demonstrate the ecologic and economic application of solar thermal systems installed on the SeKoMU University (www.sekomu.ac.tz) dormitories located in the Usambara Mountains. In this project’s framework, two demonstration units will be constructed to show their simple handling and reliable operation. The installation of additional 50 solar thermal systems for the overall 500 students can be realized in a second step, once successful operation has been proven. The medium term goal is this technology’s further regional distribution based on the positive experience gained within this REPIC project.
