Since 2020, SOFT POWER has been working with EPFL and local partners on the development and demonstration of clean hydrogen cookstoves. By installing a prototype in Cameroon, the project partners were able to show the technical feasibility and local adaptability of the cookers.
Description
During the project, the design of the modular hydrogen cookstove will be optimized, a production facility will be set up for fast and cost-effective local production, an adapted business model will be developed, and preparations will be made for market entry.
Results
A redesigned improved prototype of the novel low-cost hydrogen catalytic cookstove was successfully constructed and tested. Among the various tests, a safety assessment showed high level of safety in operation.
Next steps will involve optimizing the design to improve efficiency, enhancing the durability of the catalyst, and further reducing production costs.
