The project is supported by the two Swiss partners, Probraves Ltd. and MPower Ventures Ltd.. Probraves AG is contributing its expertise in the brewing sector through its Cameroonian subsidiary Swiss African Premium Beverage. MPower Ventures Ltd., with its extensive experience in the solar sector in sub-Saharan Africa, is providing the technical know-how for the installation of the solar system. This Swiss collaboration guarantees high quality standards and demonstrates the feasibility of solar solutions for industrial applications in Cameroon.
Description
The project involves the installation of a 240 kWp photovoltaic solar system with 120 kWh storage capacity for a medium-sized brewery in Douala, Cameroon. The brewery will save 50% on energy costs and reduce diesel consumption by around 10,000 litres per year. Beyond the direct impact on the brewery, the project has a strong demonstration dimension: it is the first installation of this scale in the Cameroonian industrial sector and will serve as a flagship project to encourage the adoption of solar energy by other companies. The project also includes extensive dissemination activities with demonstration events and the development of innovative business models such as ‘Lease-to-Own’ to facilitate access to financing for other interested companies.
