MPower is a climate and fintech startup with proven long-term experience. It provides small and medium-sized solar energy infrastructures in developing countries. With a B2B model that combines hardware, software, and financing solutions, it transforms accessibility and impact into profitability.
Patrick Biber and his team at eConnect provide technical training and capacity building for local technicians and hub managers.
Description
The project aims to set up five EnergyHubs each in Ghana, Cameroon, and Togo by combining the electrification of social infrastructure with productive use services that improve livelihoods.
The EnergyHubs are easily deployable solar systems – of 10 kWp capacity – that act as business hubs providing free electricity to health centers/schools while offering income-generating services e.g., hair cutting, welding, photocopying, cooling & freezing compartments, sales of solar products, rental of batteries with light or phone charging.
Each Hub will be operated by a Hub Manager and Assistant employed by MPower, creating 2 direct jobs in each 15 Hubs. In addition, each Hub typically generates 4 new local jobs for entrepreneurs running the above-mentioned services.
