IDE-E has many years of experience in development cooperation and is teaming up with Energie Zukunft Schweiz on this project, which will bring in their knowledge around photovoltaics.
Description
The main objective of the project is the production of clean water through a system combining solar-powered desalination and extended rainwater collection, to substantially improve the Múcura Island’s inhabitants’ quality of life. While powering a desalination plant, the solar PV system’s production surplus will provide electricity for refrigeration and ice production (e.g. for fish conservation), with a positive impact on income-generating activities led by local micro-enterprises.
