The Swiss company Hydro Engineering GmbH, established in 2007 brings in experience ranging from large hydro design and implementation down to pico hydro both in Switzerland and abroad (commercial projects as well as for development cooperation programmes in Indonesia, PNG, Solomon Islands, Nepal, Bhutan, Philippines, Madagascar).
Description
The “Micro Hydro Assistance in PNG Highlands Provinces” project selects 3 sites to host a micro-hydropower plant. In particular, the Alambina site (50 kW) is an ideal demonstration site where innovative design solutions and Swiss equipment can be showcased and put to effective use. The Alambina micro-hydropower project aims to replace several small diesel and gasoline generators currently in use in a school, a teacher’s home or a local business, thus promoting more sustainable, fossil-fuel-free energy practices.
