CABOZ has been active in the Soubré region since 2009 and has a finely structured network of around 2000 smallholder farmers and employees. Together with Swiss partners such as the Bern University of Applied Sciences, the Creative Food and Beverage Company, or the Swiss Senior Expert Contact (Swisscontact), the necessary broad Swiss know-how for this project is ensured.

Description

In order to further increase the value added from the cocoa fruit, the present project uses the cocoa fruit pulp, which has so far been lost as waste during the fermentation process, for the extraction of cocoa juice. Without consuming additional land resources, farmers’ incomes can thus be increased by about 20%.

For the juice production, the construction of a factory directly next to one of the existing fermentation centres is planned. A central element of the project is an optimised logistics approach for the collection of the raw materials.

The energy supply for the factory and the water catchments is mainly ensured by solar power.
