Description
This pilot project aims at implementing sustainable energy technology in small-scale farming in rural India, with an initial focus on the Karnataka state. The technology introduced is the “Swiss Solar Water Pump”, a unique low cost 80 W photovoltaic water pump system developed by Bern University of Applied Sciences. The main advantages of the Swiss Solar Water Pump are the low price, the local production and service, the small size and flexibility and the long lifetime. Based on past experiences, the implementation strategy is targeting women groups and networks of female entrepreneurs. A combined educational and business approach is adopted by the participating institutions of higher education and SMEs from India and Switzerland.
