BHP Brugger and Partner Ltd., have close links to the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ). The KEPZ feasibility study is being conducted in cooperation with Holinger Ltd., and entec Ltd.; two renowned Swiss experts in the field of renewable energies.

Description

The Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) is the first private, free-trade area in Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh has been suffering massive energy issues for years, which seriously affect the KEPZ’s industrial development. The aim of the REPIC supported feasibility study is the examination of sustainable “best practice” use of renewable energy technologies in the areas of solar, hydro and biomass, within the KEPZ zone. Additionally, measures to improve energy efficiency in the planned KEPZ shoe factory shall be identified and implemented. Based on the feasibility study’s findings, guidelines in the form of “white books,” shall be provided for developing and presenting the growing use of renewable energies in Bangladesh.
