Swiss Contribution
The EPFL’s PV Lab in Neuchatel has been dealing with the development of photovoltaic (PV) technologies since 1985 and is a leader in the development of highly efficient silicon solar cells. Photovoltaic modules development and investigation of their degradation mechanisms are also part of the laboratory’s work areas. The laboratory is furnished with all the necessary equipment in order to carry out all IEC tests for PV modules.
Description
Despite its high potential, solar energy’s implementation in Senegal has progressed very little. Reasons for this include the unsatisfactory reliability of photovoltaic systems, which often contain untested material and/or material of insufficient quality.
The project’s aim is to build an independent quality and test center for photovoltaics in Dakar (https://ct2s.org.sn). The tests offered are intended to include the most important tests; such as the verification of performance, in order to ensure minimum product quality.
