Title

Insulation of Residential Houses and Energy Efficient Stoves for CO2 Emissions Reduction and Livelihood Improvement

Project Type

education / financing modell

Swiss Partner

CDE - Centre for Development and Environment

Technology

Energy Efficiency

Description

In the Chui and Issyk Kul provinces, CO2 emissions shall be reduced by about 16 000 t CO2eq through the insulation of 4 000 simple residential houses and the construction of 1 000 energy-efficient stoves. At the same time, family budgets will be less burdened due to savings in fossil fuel costs. The high investment costs for insulation and energy efficient stoves shall be made affordable through cheap loans by local banks. Income from the sale of CO2 certificates shall additionally help the house owners to payback their building loans. An extensive information campaign with commercials on local television and radio stations shall inform the public on the possibilities for house insulation, energy efficient stoves and cheap building loans.

REPIC finances the project's start-up phase costs; such as, e.g. the costs for craftsmen's training, the insulation materials or the information campaign.
