PVPS Task 9

Photovoltaic Services for Developing Countries

Based on extensive worldwide experience in PV systems, Task 9 aims at increasing the rate of successful deployment of PV systems in developing countries. This is being achieved through enhanced co-operation and flow of information between the IEA PVPS Programme and other international development stakeholders. Task 9 draws upon the broad project experience of its expert group and concentrates its work on the non-technical aspects of PV applications. Task 9 experts are in contact with numerous worldwide development organizations through their international project network; which proves quite valuable to REPIC and its work.

REEEP

Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Partnership

Switzerland became a member of REEEP in January 2006. REEEP was initiated by the United Kingdom on the occasion of the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002 and was further developed in 2003. REEEP offers an open and flexible network to its global public-private partnership members. REEEP raises awareness of key political decision makers who are encouraging their governments to improve their energy security strategy, to accelerate the integration of renewables into the energy mix and to drive forward energy efficiency. Switzerland, as a partner in REEEP, would like to contribute to building this global network, which has a upward commitment to renewable energy and more efficient energy use as its goals.
