REPIC is designed to be a market oriented service centre for the promotion of renewable.energy and energy efficiency in international cooperation. Taking current experience into account, this platform should make new concrete renewable energy and energy efficiency projects with increasing participation of Swiss companies and organisations possible. For this purpose, REPIC will build up a network of information and awareness among interested parties, facilitate the exchange of experience between different actors and promote the knowledge of local conditions and project possibilities. In order to realise promising renewable. energy and energy efficiency projects, the REPIC Platform can contribute to the initial financing of such projects. Moreover, through the REPIC Platform, the participation in international networks is enhanced.

The community of countries will not be able to manage the transformation of the world energetic system actual state of the art to a system, which can combine ecological and social sustainability with political acceptance, without the mobilisation of the economical and technical possibilities of the private sector and the support of the civil.society.

As a starting point for the REPIC Platform, the needs of the non-governmental players will be placed at the centre of the activities. In the same way, a demand driven approach remains in the background of the REPIC Platform strategy. It is only through better information access, better framework knowledge, as well as through direct or indirect support, that the non-governmental players can engage themselves more in the renewable.energy and energy efficiency field in developing and in transition countries with their knowledge and their resources. The awareness of local institutions and administrations assumes an important signification for the same reasons.
